To analyze the use of lidocaine in occipital neuralgia headache.Articles were selected from the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS), and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO).Intravenous lidocaine infusions are considered for refractory chronic migraine. Topical lidocaine is used for various pains, safe and effective for conditions like post-herpetic neuralgia. Dosing needs careful monitoring to avoid side effects. Lidocaine at 10% can prolong efficacy in major occipital nerve blocks. Lidocaine patches might not be effective for acute or post-operative headaches. Multimodal treatments, including lidocaine infusions, are used for migraines, but long-term evidence is limited. Topical lidocaine is effective for post-herpetic neuralgia, while peripheral nerve blocks are options for intractable head or face pain. Studies reveal the complexity of lidocaine use in pain management, with varied approaches including intravenous, topical formulations, and specific nerve blocks. Each method has pros and cons, leading to diverse observed effectiveness. These results emphasize the ongoing need for research to understand lidocaine's mechanisms and its optimal application in occipital neuralgia headache management, highlighting the importance of personalized treatment based on the patient's specific condition.
Leandro Correa Tavares TavaresMariana David de LisboaJoão Paulo Santana da RochaMarlon Vinícios Leite de MeloStanley Amaro Caldas da SilvaJano Alves de SouzaCatarine Torquato Barcellos Thiago de Mello TavaresMarco Orsini

https://convergenceseditorial.com.br/index.php/enfermagembrasil/article/view/5446

The importance of nurses acting appropriately when dealing with brain-dead patients is crucial to making transplants viable and increasing the number of transplants. Timely assistance to the patient, based on rigorous technical and scientific knowledge, will determine the success or failure of the donation. This study aims to conduct an integrative literature review by searching the BVS, Medline, Lilacs and BDENF databases, from August to December 2022. Inclusion criteria: full text studies published in Portuguese and English. Excluded: gray literature texts. Descriptors used: tissue and organ procurement, brain death, nursing. Management of the potential donor is part of the organ donation process and is essential for making organs viable for transplantation. Nursing professionals need to be aware of the physiological changes that occur in brain-dead patients in order to adapt to possible changes. The scenario of organ donation and transplantation still has a long way to go and requires trained professionals to work in the various parts of the process, with patient management being one of the most important parts of the process to achieve transplant success efficiently and thus promote quality grafts for recipients.
Michele Ribeiro da Silva GuedesAna Raquel Ferreira GalindoBárbara Clarice dos Santos MarquesBruna de Souza BuarqueEmanuelly Falcão de Sousa LeiteHosana dos Santos BarbosaJoão Alberto Soares BezerraMárcia Maria de Lima SilvaMarlon Chaves CavalcantiRoberto Bezerra da SilvaTayanne Laiz da Silva BandeiraWhâniza Sulana Costa Silva

https://convergenceseditorial.com.br/index.php/enfermagembrasil/article/view/5507

Hospital discharge represents the return of a hospitalized person to their home and should be carried out in a responsible manner, reinforcing autonomy and self-care, in order to ensure continuity of treatment. The present study aimed to understand the perception of inpatient nurses about hospital discharge planning. It is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach, developed in a virtual environment, with eight nurses working in a hospital inpatient unit, selected by snowball sampling, considering data saturation. Approval was obtained from the Research Ethics Committee. The results showed a predominance of female participants, aged between 30 and 35 years, single, and with a work experience of four to six years. The content of the interviews made it possible to construct two categories of analysis, “Discharge process centered on the medical professional: limited role of nurses” and “Hospital discharge: a process planned by the multidisciplinary team”, which included two subcategories “Discharge planning: safety, quality and continuity of care” and “Valuing the multidisciplinary team in hospital discharge”. It was understood that for nurses, hospital discharge planning occurs in a centralized manner in the physician or in a planned manner together with the multidisciplinary team, depending on the context in which the participants are inserted.
Lourdes Helena de Paula da SilvaKarine Cristina Siqueira Cunha Zélia Marilda Rodrigues Resck Roberta Garcia Gomes Bianca Silva de Morais FreireRoberta Seron Sanches

https://convergenceseditorial.com.br/index.php/enfermagembrasil/article/view/5516

Objectives: to estimate the prevalence of occupational stress in multidisciplinary residents; to evaluate the factors associated with occupational stress and to characterize the sociodemographic, occupational and health profile of multidisciplinary residents of a public hospital in Bahia. Method: cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study, conducted with 75 multidisciplinary residents in a large public hospital between June and December 2022. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire containing questions related to sociodemographic data, work, lifestyle life and health. To investigate occupational stress, the Stress at Work Scale (WSS) was used. A descriptive and bivariate analysis of the results was performed. Results: The average age of participants was 26.9 years; being 82.7% female; 73.3% reported lifestyle habits considered healthy. When asked about symptoms related to work activity, 48% reported headache, 57.3% back pain and 68% anxiety; 48% of residents had a level of stress considered high. There was evidence of an association between stress and the following variables: year of residence - R2, (PR: 2.45 – 95%CI: 1.34-4.49 – p:0.001); job dissatisfaction (RP: 2.23 – 95%CI: 1.43 – 3.48 - p:0.001); sleep pattern - sleeping a maximum of 5 hours a night (RP: 1.98 - 95%CI: 1.23 – 3.20; p:0.004). Conclusion: the highest percentage of residents had a low/moderate level of stress. Even so, it is important to mention that the percentage of 48% of high level was significant and signals the need for intervention in the field of mental health.
Paula Silva PeixotoDouglas de Souza e SilvaValdenir Almeida da SilvaMaisa Matos SantanaAna Claudia Fonseca de Souza
