Treinamento muscular inspiratório para o desenvolvimento fí­sico: evidências e controvérsias

Resumo

O Treinamento Muscular Inspiratório (TMI) visa o aumento da força e resistência dos músculos inspiratórios. Os efeitos positivos do TMI na melhora clí­nica e no desempenho fí­sico em indiví­duos com doença pulmonar obstrutiva ou insuficiência cardí­aca são bem reconhecidos, mas em indiví­duos sadios ainda são controversos. O objetivo do presente artigo é o de apresentar uma revisão sobre o possí­vel efeito positivo no desempenho fí­sico em indiví­duos sadios decorrentes do TMI. Observamos em todos os estudos consultados um aumento na força e resistência muscular inspiratória. Entretanto, nem todos os estudos apresentaram aumento na capacidade fí­sica, gerando controvérsia quanto í  aplicabilidade desta estratégia de treinamento objetivando desempenho. Verificou-se uma grande variação entre os protocolos descritos no que diz respeito í  carga utilizada, número de semanas, frequência semanal, além de formas de TMI, continua ou intervalada, em diferentes modalidades esportivas.
