Health care for pregnant women in times of COVID-19: a literature review
Introduction: COVID-19 is a public health emergency of worldwide importance, whose clinical presentation varies according to the patient's profile, presenting mild symptoms to severe acute respiratory syndrome. Pregnant women are part of a group with greater vulnerability to the syndrome. Objective: To review health care strategies for pregnant women in times of COVID-19. Methods: Integrative literature review carried out by crossing the descriptors standardized by MESH and their analogues in Portuguese (DeCS) and in Spanish in the Medline, Pubmed Central, DOAJ, Web of Science and BDEnf databases. The selection process of the articles considered the PRISMA recommendations and the articles were classified according to the level of evidence using the American reference AHRQ. Results: 1430 studies were found, however, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 7 articles were selected for the sample. Conclusion: The main health care strategies aimed at pregnant women in times of COVID-19 were counseling and social support through the implementation of a facilitating process between pregnant women and health professionals, carrying out pulmonary tomography in the admission of patients with severe symptoms, contraindication for cesarean sections, harm reduction strategies to mental health and the use of social networks as an educational health strategy aimed at the target audience
