Objectives: To report the perception of nursing students in the experience of an action for the prevention of diabetes mellitus focusing on employees of a University Center in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Methods: This is a descriptive study, experience report type, developed from the experience of nursing students in a preventive activity against diabetes mellitus. Results: When conducting the proposed activity, 27 employees were assisted, 15 men and 12 women. It was observed that from this total, 6 workers had considerable alterations in glycemic indexes and most were unaware of this alteration. This finding is a common occurrence in patients who have diabetes mellitus.
