Introduction: Disinfection is a physical or chemical process applied to fixed surfaces, such as materials and equipment, which kills pathogenic microorganisms. Objective: To describe the importance of cuff surface disinfection and automatic oscillometric device for indirect blood pressure measurement. Methods: Integrative review carried out during the month of August 2020, which included articles published in full, from 2015 to 2020, published in Portuguese, English and Spanish, in Lilacs, PubMed, Cinahl, Web of Science, Scopus, BDEnf and EMBASE. It aims to answer the following question "what is the importance of disinfection of the cuff surface and of the automatic oscillometric device for indirect blood pressure measurement?" Results: Seven selected articles, published in five different countries, highlighting the importance of surface disinfection, mainly in common use. The need for feedback to health professionals regarding the conditions of disinfection and transmission of infections is highlighted. Conclusion: Evidence identified flaws in the process of disinfecting surfaces of both the cuffs and the device, including sphygmomanometers, and risks of transmission of infectious pathogens, highlighting disinfection with easily accessible detergents and disinfectants.
