Lactogenesis is a mechanism that occurs physiologically throughout gestation and has continuity in the puerperium. Lactogenesis II (or “milk coming”) occurs between second and third day after delivery. The objective of the study is to analyze in the literature, in the last ten years, the main risk factors that lead to delayed lactogenesis II. Methods: This is an integrative review of the literature, with the research in the following databases: Lilacs, Cinahl, Cochrane, Pubmed, Scopus and Web of Science, with articles published in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Results: Of the risk factors that were found was highlighted cesarean delivery (42.8%), preterm delivery (21.4%) and maternal obesity, especially with excessive weight gain during pregnancy (28.5%). Conclusion: Concluded that in order to achieve the right moment of Lactogenesis II (up to 72 hours postpartum), the physiological and emotional processes of the woman need to be synchronized, so that is no problem in the establishment of exclusive breastfeeding.
