Abstract

Objective: Research the literature for benefits of Clary Sage Essential Oil use regarding gynecology and pregnancy-puerperium cycle. Method: Integrative review with search in the following databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System on Line, Latin American Literature of Health Sciences, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science. As inclusion criteria, correlation with the theme and availability of the articles in Portuguese, English or Spanish were adopted. Exclusion criteria were: duplicity, review articles and gray literature. Results: A total of 229 articles were found, of which 16 were analyzed after matching the proposed criteria. They were divided into 4 categories: Antimicrobial activity; Effects on mental health; Analgesic effects and Antidiabetic effects. Conclusion: The use of Clary Sage essential oil can be beneficial for gynecological health and pregnancy-puerperim cycle and more scientific studies are required, especially randomized clinical trials, so that there is more support and safety in the use of this essential oil in treatments.
