Introduction: The Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC) presents itself as an oncological emergency, to prevent irreversible neurological damage, treat pain, maintain mobility and functionality of patients. The focus on early discharge to home requires a rapid adaptation to the new condition, making the length of the hospitalization complex and challenging. Objective: To describe the rehabilitation nursing care needs of a person with MSCC in the hospital admission. Method: Case report based on CARE guidelines. Results: There were constant adaptations to the rehabilitation program, which required the coordination of the multidisciplinary team. The intervention of the rehabilitation nurses in the identification of needs, prevention of complications, and empowerment of the person and caregiver was determinant for a quick and safe return to home. Conclusion: Needs were identified, and responses provided to the patient with MSCC in acute phase. Rehabilitation nursing contributed for the prevention of complications, to the preparation for discharge and a secure return home.
