Laser de baixa intensidade: princí­pios e generalidades - Parte 1

Resumo

O laser é um dos meios fí­sicos que o fisioterapeuta conta para o tratamento de seus pacientes, mas por ser uma tecnologia relativamente nova, ainda se encontra em fase de determinação de seus reais efeitos, aplicações efetivas e limitações. O objetivo desta revisão é fazer uma compilação e organização dos artigos sobre laser por tópicos, mostrando o estado atual e os resultados das pesquisas desta área, que sirva como um guia para o fisioterapeuta clí­nico. Foi dividida em duas partes, apresentando na primeira as generalidades do laser e na segunda os trabalhos feitos in vitro, em animais e em humanos, em patologias especí­ficas. A primeira parte compreende uma pequena história, as caracterí­sticas e parâmetros que identificam o laser, incluindo as controvérsias surgidas em torno deste assunto, os efeitos fisiológicos, assim como as teorias que as suportam, enfatizando em especial a teoria fotoquí­mica, que acreditamos ter o melhor embasamento cientí­fico para explicar a interação do laser com tecidos biológicos.
