Estabilização segmentar vertebral no controle da dor lombar crônica: efetividade e variações

Introdução: Dor e desconforto por no mínimo 12 semanas na região lombar é definido como lombalgia crônica que atinge uma elevada parcela da população levando a consequências sociais e de saúde. Estudos demonstram que a instabilidade lombar é gerada por desequilíbrios musculares o que desencadeia os quadros álgicos. Em contrapartida pesquisas atuais indicam a eficiência da estabilização segmentar vertebral (ESV) nestes pacientes, apesar de poucas descrições em determinadas associações da técnica. Objetivos: Apresentar a efetividade da ESV na dor lombar e expor as suas diferentes abordagens. Material e métodos: Esta revisão de literatura utilizou artigos coletados nas bases de dados Pubmed e Scielo. Os artigos selecionados compreenderam o período de publicação de 1995 a 2011; apresentavam metodologias confiáveis e devidamente descritas; e relevância social. Resultados: Busca total de 3925 artigos, dos quais 18 foram selecionados por estarem de acordo com os critérios de inclusão. Conclusão: A literatura tem comprovado eficiência significativa da ESV na dor lombar crônica, e as constantes variações de seus protocolos se mostram necessários para adaptações individuais de pacientes e/ou terapeutas.
