Utilização de proteí­na na prática esportiva

Resumo

Introdução: A importância das proteí­nas para atletas tem sido reconhecida, porém a eficácia do consumo elevado de suplementos proteicos e de aminoácidos é questionável. Objetivos: Determinar a importância do consumo de proteí­nas na prática esportiva e demonstrar a utilização de diferentes tipos e resultados na performance atlética. Métodos: Trabalho de revisão, com levantamento bibliográfico utilizando materiais indexados ao Index Medicus. Conclusão: Sabe-se que o atleta possui uma demanda metabólica proteica elevada devido í  necessidade de reparação de proteí­nas danificadas, sí­ntese de novos tecidos, manutenção de vias metabólicas, hipertrofia, manutenção do sistema imunológico fortalecido e garantindo ainda um ní­vel de proteí­nas plasmáticas ideal para funcionar em condições fisiológicas. Não há consenso na literatura com relação í  recomendação proteica para atletas, variando entre 0,8 a 2 g/kg/dia, e variando também de acordo com a modalidade a ser praticada. A suplementação apresenta resultados controversos, mas muitos trabalhos mostram melhores resultados na suplementação proteica acrescida de carboidratos. Foram encontrados efeitos benéficos na suplementação com creatina, proteí­na do soro do leite, glutamina e arginina, sendo os resultados fisiológicos diferentes para o consumo de cada um dos produtos.
