The aim of this study was to investigate the reasons that women from the city of Castanhal/PA give up of aerobic physical exercises practice and to show the anthropometric profile of beginner women in physical exercise program. The sample consisted in 22 overweighted or obese women between 18 and 40 years old. The physical evaluation consisted of assessing the waist and hip circumference to calculate the waist hip ratio (WHR) and weight and height to calculate the body mass index (BMI). To know the reasons for the participants' withdrawal, a telephone contact was made to ask: Why are not you participating anymore of the project? Responses were recorded and coded in withdrawal reasons. Our results show that women aged 20-29 years old (n = 10) presented a mean of BMI 29.03 ± 3.34 kg/m2 and WHR 0.78 ± 0.03, which represents a high risk to health. The other age group was 30-39 years old (n = 12) with a mean of BMI 32.89 ± 3.88 kg/m2 and a WHR of 0.85 ± 0.06, which represents a very high risk to health. The main reasons for withdrawal indicated by the participants were health and personal problems with 31.81% each one.
