Abstract

Introduction: Pills are the most widely used contraceptive method in the world, hence the importance of studying the possible side effects triggered by their prolonged use. Despite the contraceptive benefit, for 30 years, associations have been suggested that such method may have changes in lipid profile and increase in plasma C-reactive protein (CRP). Objective: To describe how a physical exercise program improved the metabolic variables of a woman using COC. Methods: Case study, voluntary sedentary, 24 years old, obese. Diagnosis of polycystic ovarian and subclinical hypothyroidism. The patient underwent blood collection for the laboratory dosage of angiotensin 2, renin, angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), glycemia, glycated hemoglobin, HDL, LDL-oxidized, total cholesterol, triglycerides, PCR and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The volunteer underwent three months of maintenance of life habits, however, without the use of COC. In the next step, the volunteer was instructed to resume the use of COC, now a training program was added, after which the same variables were reassessed. Results: In addition to the improvement of the lipid and inflammatory profile, we observed a reduction in blood TSH levels. Conclusion: The physical exercise program applied in this study was able to improve the lipid profile, inflammatory and reduce the body mass of the sample.
