The objective of this study was to evaluate the body composition and self-perception of body image of bodybuilders from the city of Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. The study was performed with bodybuilders in 7 gyms distributed in all areas of the city. As instruments were used the BMI and calculation of percentage of fat (% G), for body composition and the Stunkard silhouette test for self-perception of body image. The tests were performed in 32 individuals, all males. As a result, for BMI we obtained a percentage of 40.6% of individuals classified as normal weight and pre-obese, 9.4% overweight and obesity I. The% G of the individuals was classified as medium (34.4%), with only 6.3% classified as below average. The result of the silhouette test indicated that 40.9% of individuals see themselves as a physical eutrophic form, followed by 40.6% who find themselves with a low muscle mass. Regarding the desired physical form, 56.2% of the individuals desire a physical eutrophic form and 43.8% desire a body with low muscle mass, while no individual craves a physical form with a high percentage of fat. Therefore, the results have led one to believe that individuals do not have a significant level of body image distortion and are looking for goals easily achieved with their training routine.
