Objective: To investigate the influence of physical activity (PA) on the quality of life (QoL) of the elderly. Methods: An integrative review was performed in the following databases: Embase, Cochrane, Pubmed/Medline, Lilacs, and Scielo with the descriptors and terms: elderly, motor activity, physical activity and quality of life in Portuguese and English, with the boolean operators "or" and "and". After verification of the inclusion criteria, 13 studies published between 2012 and 2016 were selected. Results: 61.5% of the studies used the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) instrument to assess PA, 15.4% used Senior Fitness Test (STF) and Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE) simultaneously and to evaluate QV, 46.2% used World Health Organization Quality of Life instrument old (WHOQOL). Regardless of the instrument used, the results presented in the evaluated studies showed that the AF positively influences the QoL of the elderly. Conclusion: PA improves the perception of QOL in the elderly, and the response is more effective when regular and scheduled exercises are performed.
