Motivational factors in a bodybuilding gym at São José do Rio Pardo/SP

With competition among sports centers, gyms and fitness centers, there is concern about the enrollment customers' motivation levels and their interests. Objective: To raise the motivational factors of bodybuilding goers in the city of São José do Rio Pardo/SP. Methods: 40 male and female individuals participated in this study. The exclusion criteria were the middle-aged and elderly groups, and inclusion criteria consisted of students duly enrolled in academia and age group above 18 years. The research instrument used was IMPRAF 54: Motivation Inventory for Physical Activity with 54 questions. the questionnaire was explained and delivered to the participants. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and parameters such as mean, standard deviation and frequencies, presented through graphs and tables made by Excel. Results: The most relevant motivational factors were health. This is verified by the awareness of the population in the practice of physical exercises. Conclusion: After analyzing the factors, it was concluded that the most motivating factor for bodybuilders is the health dimension followed by pleasure, aesthetics, stress control, sociability and competitiveness.
