Treinamento de força muscular em portadores da síndrome da fibromialgia

A Síndrome da Fibromialgia (SFM) é uma condição dolorosa generalizada, crônica, não-inflamatória. É considerada síndrome pela razão de englobar uma série de manifestações clínicas, como dor, fadiga, indisposição, distúrbios do sono, entre outras. Apesar de a SFM poder apresentar-se de forma extremamente dolorosa e incapacitante, ela não ocasiona comprometimento articular inflamatório ou restritivo. A dor muscular é uma manifestação muito freqüente na fibromialgia, podendo ser difusa ou acometer preferencialmente algumas regiões, como o pescoço e os ombros. Os exercícios físicos geralmente são incluídos no programa de reabilitação de pacientes com SFM. Apesar de haver muitos estudos examinando o efeito do treinamento aeróbio, relaxamento muscular e alongamentos, o treinamento de força (TF) como meio de tratamento foi pouco estudado. Apenas recentemente, os pesquisadores têm avaliado e incluído o TF em programas de exercício físico para indivíduos com fibromialgia. Assim, o TF vem surgindo como mais uma estratégia de intervenção ou opção de tratamento, no sentido de intervir positivamente no tratamento da SFM, minimizando o quadro miálgico, bem como melhorando a qualidade de vida dos indivíduos por ela afetados.
