Abstract

Introduction: COVID-19 is a worldwide public health problem that has a potential risk to life and a wide potential for dissemination, making it necessary to implement strategies aimed at the quality of health care. Objective: To identify strategies for coping with occupational stress among nursing workers in a hospital setting in the pandemic scenario COVID-19, through a literature review. Methods: This is an integrative, descriptive, qualitative review, carried out from June to July 2020. Twelve articles were selected. Three with a quantitative approach and nine qualitative. Results: A consensus was identified among the authors about the negative psychological effects that the pandemic brought to nursing professionals, with emphasis on stress and depression, as well as on the importance of carrying out control strategies. Conclusion: Coping, the “well-being room”, the training of communication skills, emotional intelligence, participative management, co-responsibility of the subjects, reflection of risk practices and awareness raising, were identified as important strategies for coping with negative conditions promoted in this pandemic period.
