Non-violent communication as a light technology in the nursing context: an integrative review

Objective: To verify how Non-Violent Communication is applied in Nursing and to understand the repercussions of professionals, patients and organization. Methods: Integrative review guided by the question “How is non-violent communication used in the field of Nursing and what are the repercussions of this application?”. Searches were performed on primary studies published between 2010 and 2020, in PubMed, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Web of Science, Embase, Psycinfo and Virtual Health Library. Results: Five studies relating non-violent communication with nursing workers were selected, coping strategies for bullying; conflict management; coping with family violence and ethics strategy for nursing students. Conclusion: Non-Violent Communication was applied in the implementation of a culture of peace in the work environment, professional relationships and nursing education. The number of studies included highlights the need for research on the subject.
