Programas de ejercicio físico en el hogar de ancianos frágiles: una revisión integradora

Resumen

Introducción: El ejercicio físico tiene el potencial de mejorar el estado de salud de las personas mayores frágiles. Sin embargo, el conocimiento sobre el ejercicio físico en el hogar para esta población es escaso. Objetivo: Investigar en la literatura científica los programas de ejercicio físico implementados en el hogar de ancianos frágiles con aportes a la capacidad funcional. Métodos: Revisión integrativa de la literatura entre 2010 y 2020, en las bases de datos Web of Science, Medline y Cinahl. Resultados: De 290 artículos, se incluyeron 12 artículos que revelaron efectos positivos de los programas de ejercicio físico en el hogar sobre la capacidad funcional de los ancianos frágiles. Los programas de ejercicio físico incluyeron entrenamiento de fuerza, equilibrio, flexibilidad y resistencia. Conclusión: Esta revisión demuestra los beneficios del ejercicio físico en el hogar de ancianos frágiles, no solo en la capacidad funcional, sino también en la participación en actividades de la vida diaria, incidencia de caídas, miedo a caer, intensidad del dolor, episodios de enfermedad aguda y calidad de vida.
