Introduction: Aging is a dynamic, progressive and irreversible process, resulting from physiological changes. Some personal factors may interfere with the process and predispose elderly to comorbidities, such as low back pain, resulting in functional impairment. Objective: To evaluate the association between some personal factors and the functionality of the elderly with low back pain. Methods: The sample included 26 elderly people with low back pain. Data collection was performed through the Identification and Screening Card, MEEM, WHODAS 2.0, Kinesiophobia Cover Scale, McGill Pain Questionnaire, Catastrophic Thoughts on Pain Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale. For analysis of association between the variables, the Pearson correlation test and the multiple stepwise regression were used. All tests were performed with a significance level adjusted for α = 0.05. Results: Seven explanatory models were created, and the model that contained the variables: ADL, cognition, mobility, interpersonal relationships, selfcare, participation and weight explained the participants' functional levels in 99.9%. Conclusion: Functional levels in the elderly with low back pain depend on multiple interacting factors. This interaction, although important, is neglected during the thinking and clinical decision making of physiotherapists.
