Introduction: Evidence of treatment with targeted kinesiotherapy for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) continue to emerge and report the effectiveness of exercise therapy in correcting the torsional deformity caused by scoliosis. Objective: To identify and analyze the different kinesiotherapeutic methods in the treatment of AIS. Methods: A literature review on clinical trials was performed, searching the electronic databases: PEDro, PubMed and SciELO. Results: We identified and selected 6 studies with high methodological quality reaching an average score of 7,16 and which applied different physiotherapy scoliosis specific exercises (PSSE) with a greater number of evidences on the Schroth method exercises. Discussion: The studies demonstrated the efficacy of kinesiotherapy in the treatment of AIS with functional benefits in the correction of deformity, as muscle strengthening, improvement of respiratory capacity and consequently improvement of patients’ quality of life, however due to variations in sample size, intensity, and frequency of exercises, it is difficult to determine the most efficient methods of treatment. Conclusion: Therefore, we concluded that the different PSSE are effective in correcting the deformity, bringing physical and psychological benefits, being the Schroth method the most studied and used due to its efficiency in the treatment of scoliosis and its short-term therapeutic effects.
