Abstract

Blepharoplasty is currently the most indicated surgical treatment for reversing the effects of eyelid aging. However, the technique is expensive, extremely invasive, with slow post-surgical recovery and can only be performed by surgeons in a hospital environment. Ultrasound (US) has been shown to be a safe and effective method for skin antiaging treatment, but little has been researched on the effect of US on dermatochalasis. This pilot study aims to evaluate an ultrasonic emitter in the rejuvenation treatment of the periorbicular region. This is a qualitative descriptive case study research, in which two volunteers who underwent treatment with US were evaluated. After the sessions, it was possible to observe resumption of freshness and reduction of eyelid flaccidity, with a consequent minimization of dermatochalasis and adjacent wrinkles. The use of ultrasound proved to be satisfactory and effective, especially in remodeling the region affected by dermatochalasis. In addition, the ultrasound technique is more cost-effective and have shorter post-procedural recovery compared to other therapies used to treat the periorbital region.
