Introduction: Due to its playful profile, exergaming can make Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) more attractive. Thus, it is questioned if exergaming can reduce patients’ avoidance in relation to CR. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of exergaming on the phase II CR adherence. Methods: Randomized clinical trial, including patients with heart diseases, men and women, over 18 years old, admitted during the phase II CR; those with contraindications to this intervention were excluded. Participants will be distributed into two groups, with 30 individuals each: intervention group, which will perform exergaming on the Nintendo Wii; control group, which will perform exercises on a treadmill. The intervention for both groups will be moderate intensity, 30 minutes per session, three times a week, over a period of 12 weeks. CR Adherence will be identified through the percentage of attendance to sessions. Results: Group variables will be compared using Student’s T test or Mann-Whitney test. The chi-square test will be used to compare categorical variables; when inappropriate, Fischer’s exact test will be used. Significance level will be 5%. Conclusion: This investigation will help us to elucidate the effectiveness of exergaming on the phase II CR adherence and other secondary outcomes, such as improved exercise capacity.
