ntroduction: Hemophilia is a hereditary hemorrhagic disease linked to the X chromosome. It is usually transmitted to men through mothers who carry the mutation. The disease originates from new mutations, which can occur in pregnant women or fetuses. Objective: To verify the role of physical therapy on muscle strength in hemophiliac patients. Methods: The research is characterized as a descriptive literature review, performed between July and August 2021, in the databases Pubmed and Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). Descriptors from the health area were used, in Portuguese and English: physical therapy; hemophilia; muscle strength in hemophilia. Studies published from January 2010 to July 2021 in English and Portuguese were selected. Results: 69 articles related to the topic were found. Articles that did not present results or incomplete or literature reviews were excluded, and of these, 5 were selected within the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Conclusion: The selected studies demonstrate the importance of physical therapy in conjunction with therapeutic exercise in improving muscle strength in hemophiliac patients.
