Abstract

Introduction: Parkinson's Disease (PD) is characterized by an asymmetrical feature, in addition postural instability can be evidenced. With this, the analysis of the mass distribution and plantar pressure is important, and as a tool for this evaluation, we used a baropodometry platform as quantitative analysis resource. Objective: To analyze plantar static pressure and mass distribution of PD individuals, using an electronic baropodometry platform. Methods: Eighteen volunteers were included, 10 with a diagnosis of PD, experimental group (CG), and 8 subjects without diagnosis of PD. Initially they were filled a questionnaire on sociodemographic information, and the anthropometric variables (height and weight) and plantar pressure were evaluated on the FootWalk Pro electronic baropodometry assessment platform. Results: Individuals with PD showed higher pressure on the left side (p = 0.017*) and a maximum mass pressure on the right side (p = 0.026 *). There was a statistically significant difference in the distribution of masses between the groups (PD > left side; CG > right side; p = 0.042*). Conclusion: This population showed, when submitted to evaluation on the electronic pressure platform, change in plantar pressure distribution and mass division.
