Objective: To review the scientific literature and highlight the physiotherapeutic performance in cognitive deficits and functional disabilities in patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out. The search for articles took place from September to December 2021, in the portals/electronic databases: Medline/PubMed, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Virtual Health Library (BVS), using indexed descriptors (Alzheimer's Disease and Physical therapy). Articles published between 2011 and 2021, of the observational or intervention type, in English, Portuguese and Spanish were included. Editorials, case reports, reviews and theses/dissertations were excluded. Results: 293 articles were found, of which 8 articles were included. Physical therapy is a good treatment option for patients with AD, with aerobic exercises being the most used. Functional and dual-task exercises, memory training, balance, progressive task-oriented circuit training, and motor coordination are also mentioned in the literature. Patients who were in the initial phase of the disease when submitted to the physiotherapeutic program showed a significant reduction in neuropsychiatric disorders, in addition to greater social interaction and maintenance of functional capacity. Conclusion: In view of the results, it was evidenced that physical therapy activity contributes positively to the maintenance of functional capacity and delay of cognitive deficits in patients with AD.
