Verificação do efeito imediato da manipulação espinal sobre o limiar de dor í pressão em sujeitos assintomáticos

A manipulação espinal é um tratamento manual utilizado, principalmente, para tratar problemas osteomusculares. Pesquisas relacionam esta técnica a inúmeros benefícios, incluindo alívio da dor. O presente estudo verificou o efeito imediato da manipulação da terceira vértebra cervical e da décima segunda vértebra torácica, aplicadas isoladamente e em conjunto, sobre o limiar de dor í pressão em sujeitos assintomáticos e, ainda, comparou as técnicas empregadas. Sessenta universitários foram divididos nos grupos: simulacro (GS), manipulação cervical (GMC), manipulação torácica (GMT) e manipulação cervical e torácica (GMCT). O limiar de dor foi avaliado nos processos espinhosos de C3 e T12, antes e imediatamente após as intervenções. No grupo GS o limiar de dor í pressão diminuiu significativamente no processo espinhoso de T12; no grupo GMC não houve alteração significativa do limiar em C3, assim como no grupo GMT em relação a T12; no grupo GMCT houve aumento significativo no limiar somente no processo espinhoso de C3. As comparações intergrupos não foram significativas. Concluiu-se, portanto, que a manipulação associada de C3 e T12 aumentou o limiar de dor í pressão no processo espinhoso de C3, em universitários assintomáticos, porém, não houve superioridade na associação das técnicas em relação a sua aplicação isolada.
