Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip and knee has, among the main consequences, changes in gait and balance. Studies have shown that the practice of physical exercises is recommended to reduce the symptoms of individuals with OA. Objective: To evaluate the effect of using an intervention protocol on body balance during gait in individuals with knee and/or hip OA, carried out in a group. Methods: Eighteen patients aged 50 years or older with a diagnosis of hip and/or knee OA were included in the study. The treatment totaled 10 sessions, two sessions per week, with pre-defined objectives for each week, with an evaluation being carried out before and after the intervention. For the evaluation, the VAS scale for pain, the LEFS questionnaire to assess functionality were used, in addition to the assessment of balance during gait through the analysis of temporal parameters of gait with the aid of an electronic baropodometer. Results: After performing the analyses, there were significant results for pain on movement (p = 0.016), function (p = 0.010) and simple support (p = 0.011). Conclusion: After carrying out the intervention protocol carried out in a group for 10 sessions, there was a statistically significant improvement in the variables pain on movement, functionality, through the LEFS questionnaire and simple gait support.
