Efeitos do laser de baixa potência sobre a regeneração da cartilagem na osteoartrose

Introdução: Osteoartrose (OA) é uma enfermidade articular multifatorial que acomete diversas articulações e caracteriza-se pela degeneração da cartilagem. A fotobiomodulação pode favorecer o controle dos sinais e sintomas característicos dessa afecção. Entretanto, na literatura ainda não há um consenso sobre o papel da luz na regeneração da cartilagem. Objetivo: Realizar uma revisão da literatura acerca do papel da luz na faixa espectral do vermelho ao infravermelho próximo no tratamento das doenças articulares degenerativas. Métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática de estudos disponíveis nas bases de dados Capes, PubMed, Cochrane, Pedro e Lilacs. Resultados: Os critérios de inclusão foram atingidos por nove estudos. Somente um artigo avaliou o uso da fotobiomodulação no reparo da cartilagem em células humanas. Não houve homogeneidade entre os estudos em relação í maioria dos parâmetros luminosos utilizados. Discussão: Houve grande diversidade entre os parâmetros de aplicação estabelecidos por cada estudo, o que dificulta a determinação de parâmetros clínicos eficazes para utilização desses dispositivos no tratamento da OA. Conclusão: A radiação luminosa parece ser eficaz no reparo da cartilagem. Os parâmetros ideais para aplicações em humanos são, entretanto, ainda controversos.
