A obesidade e a ação dos prebióticos, probióticos e simbióticos na microbiota intestinal

Resumo

A crescente prevalência da obesidade e suas comorbidades apresenta-se como um dos principais problemas de saúde pública atualmente. O intestino é um órgão complexo que tem sido cada vez mais estudado na obesidade devido í  sua capacidade para sinalizar vias envolvidas na fisiopatologia da doença. Objetivo: Esclarecer os principais efeitos de prebióticos e probióticos nas alterações metabólicas e da microbiota intestinal na obesidade. A microbiota intestinal pode ser modulada pela dieta e atuar no controle da ingestão alimentar interagindo com receptores e enzimas que interferem nas alterações metabólicas decorrentes da obesidade e na modulação da resposta inflamatória. Pesquisas com animais mostraram resultados positivos do uso de prebióticos e probióticos como coadjuvantes no tratamento da obesidade, contudo, os resultados com humanos ainda apresentam dados controversos. Portanto a implementação de tal estratégia provavelmente vai abrir o caminho para alimentação personalizada e/ou estratégias terapêuticas inteligentes (incluindo a manipulação da microbiota intestinal através da concepção de novos probióticos, prebióticos e simbióticos para reverter problemas causados pela obesidade.
