Prevalência de constipação intestinal no município de Viçosa/MG

O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a prevalência de constipação intestinal (CI) do município de Viçosa/MG. Realizou-se um estudo transversal com aplicação de questionários individuais í população. O questionário continha questões acerca da CI, com os critérios diagnósticos do Roma III. Responderam ao questionário 140 indivíduos de ambos os sexos. Os participantes apresentaram média etária de 31,9 ± 12,5 anos. A prevalência total de CI foi de 31,4%. As mulheres apresentaram maior prevalência do que os homens com valores de 32,6 % e 25,6%, respectivamente. A queixa mais relatada pelo sexo feminino foi a presença de fezes endurecidas ou fragmentadas (73,1%) seguido de sensação de evacuação incompleta (71,1%) e esforço ao evacuar (44,3%). Entre os homens as queixas foram as mesmas com 76,3%, 63,1% e 34,2% respectivamente. A prevalência encontrada foi alta. Devem ser realizadas atividades educativas para informar í população formas de prevenção e tratamento dessa doença.
