Efeitos psicológicos e metabólicos da restrição alimentar no transtorno de compulsão alimentar

Esta revisão aborda os principais malefícios da prática de dietas restritivas, enfatizando seus possíveis efeitos psicológicos, metabólicos e no Transtorno de Compulsão Alimentar. Atualmente, a prática de dietas restritivas tornou-se algo comum e rotineiro para aqueles que desejam, principalmente, emagrecer ou alcançar um corpo esteticamente "ideal". Porém, diversos estudos indicam a ineficácia da realização de dietas, visto que podem gerar diversos danos psicológicos, ganho de peso, diminuição do metabolismo basal e, possivelmente, desenvolvimento de transtornos alimentares. O principal objetivo dessa revisão é analisar as consequências da restrição alimentar a fim de conscientizar a população e diminuir o número crescente de indivíduos com excessiva preocupação em relação a alimentação. Foi realizada uma revisão em publicações dos últimos 30 anos. Entende-se que a obsessão pela magreza, os comportamentos alimentares inadequados, a restrição auto imposta e a distorção da imagem corporal são prejudiciais á saúde e, muitas vezes, são decorrentes das práticas de dieta. A restrição alimentar é um grande carreador dos transtornos alimentar, bem como da má relação do indivíduo com o alimento e consigo mesmo.
