Introduction: The running practice has been encouraged due to the several benefits. However, informations about injury prevention and training programs are still unclear between men and women. Objective: To compare the parameters of injury prevention actions and training program in men and women runners. Methods: This cross-sectional retrospective study evaluated recreational runners in the city of Vitória/ES. The 56 volunteers (29 men and 27 women) answered questions about personal characteristics related to their training routine and parameters such as: age, running time, training frequency, among others. Results: According to the data collected, we can observe that 67.9% perform some type of preventive training to avoid injuries, 30.4% had at least two injuries in the last four years, 26.8% had injuries in the knee region, 67.9% were absent for at least a month due to injuries, 42.9% do not complain of current pain. Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest a similarity in the prevalence of injuries among runners of both sexes, as well as in the training program.
